TYPE OF INCIDENT: Assault with Deadly Weapon - Shooting

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Unknown
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On 5/14/12 at 8:51 PM, the El Cajon Police Department received a 911 call of a shooting victim at the 24 Hour Fitness located at 198 W. Main. Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old victim with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers were able to determine that the victim had been involved in an altercation with another male in the parking lot on the west side of the business. During this altercation, the victim was shot one time by the suspect. It is unclear at this time what led to the shooting. Officers were able to locate the crime scene in the parking lot through the victim’s statements and evidence.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He was listed in stable condition after surgery with non-life threatening injuries.
