El Cajon Police Sergeant Under Investigation

On Sunday August 28, 2011, The El Cajon Police Department learned that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office was conducting an investigation into an allegation of a sexual assault that occurred on August 27th in Alpine. The reporting party/victim is a 20-year-old male volunteer with the El Cajon Police Dept. The alleged suspect is an El Cajon Police Sergeant.
After concluding their investigation, The San Diego County Sheriff investigators submitted their case to The District Attorney’s Office for review. The El Cajon Police Department received notice from the Sheriff’s that the case had been rejected by the DA’s office for lack of evidence to support the allegations. The El Cajon Police Department is conducting an internal administrative investigation into the allegations. The sergeant was placed on administrative leave on August 28th and will remain on leave during the investigation. We have determined through our investigation that this case involves only one police sergeant and one police volunteer.
