TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal Pedestrian and Vehicle Collision
   
OCCURRED: 11/19/2011 at 0155 hours

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 351W. Main St., El Cajon

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

At approximately 1:55 am on Friday November 19, 2011 El Cajon Police Officers and Fire Paramedics responded to reports of two pedestrians being struck by a vehicle in the roadway in front of the El Cajon Grand Bar at 351 W. Main St. in El Cajon. The collision occurred in the westbound lanes of W. Main St.

Preliminary indications based on several witness statements are that the two pedestrians, a 24 year old Hispanic female adult from San Diego and a 24 year old White male adult from El Cajon, were crossing W. Main St. wearing dark clothing, when they were struck by an oncoming Mitsubishi Montero.

The female pedestrian suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

This investigation is ongoing and the identity of the victims is not being released at this time. The driver of the Mitsubishi stopped immediately following the collision and is cooperating with Traffic Investigators. Based on the preliminary investigation, neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in this collision at this time.
