TYPE OF INCIDENT: Serious Injury Collision
DATE OCCURRED: July 29, 2011, at approximately 9:00pm
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: Main Street and South Second Ave, El Cajon
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On July 29, 2011 at approximately 9:00pm, a male subject in a motorized wheel chair was stopped on the north sidewalk of E. Main Street at South Second Avenue, when he darted out into the street and into on coming traffic. A pick-up truck was travelling west bound in the lane closest to the center median and did not see the subject in the wheelchair. The truck collided with the wheelchair and the subject sustained potentially life threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the subject to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.
Also, there is no preliminary indication that speed or alcohol was a factor in this collision on behalf of the driver.
