EL CAJON POLICE DEPT. – PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION SHEET
TYPE OF INCIDENT: Serious Injury Collision
OCCURRED: 02/05/2011 at 1037 hours
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 1300 block of Melody
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
Shortly after 10:30 am on Saturday morning a vehicle vs pedestrian collision occurred in the 1300 block of Melody in El Cajon. Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, the 12 year old pedestrian darted from the side walk across the roadway into oncoming traffic. The motorist involved in the collision was traveling east bound on Melody and was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian. It does not appear that speed was a factor in this incident.
The pedestrian suffered significant and serious injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment.
