EL CAJON POLICE DEPT. – PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION SHEET
TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Collision
OCCURRED: 01/31/2011 at 1838 hours
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 1100 block of Broadway
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
Shortly after 6:30 pm on Monday evening a vehicle collision occurred in the 1100 block of Broadway in El Cajon, involving a 1987 Suzuki motorcycle and a 1997 Honda Accord. Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Broadway in the number one lane when the driver of the Honda made a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcyclist.
The motorcycle struck the Honda causing significant injury to the driver. The driver of the Honda was uninjured. The 35 year old motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital where he passed away as a result of his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family by the Medical Examiners Office.
