DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: January 16, 2011, 9:00 PM

SUSPECT: Geoffrey Curtis Killen, DOB: 3/21/81
Resident of San Diego
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On January 16, 2011, at about 9:00 PM, Officer Dan Hansen stopped a car for a registration violation at the intersection of Main and Greenfield in the City of El Cajon. It was determined that the car would be impounded because it had not been registered for more than six months. During an inventory of the vehicle, a grenade was located in the trunk.
Officers evacuated businesses near the car, and closed down the intersection. The Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and ATF were called. Bomb technicians confirmed that the grenade was live, and the driver of the car was arrested. The driver, Geoffrey Curtis Killen, 3/21/81, will be booked into San Diego County Jail and charged with possession and transportation of a destructive device. Federal charges may also be filed at a later date.
