TYPE OF INCIDENT:    Serious Injury Hit and Run Accident

DATE:           Monday, December 27, 2010

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 500 N. Mollison





El Cajon – Shortly after 9 pm Monday evening, a 48 year old El Cajon man was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to walk across N. Mollison Ave. The collision occurred in the 500 block of N. Mollison which is just south of Interstate 8. At the time, the pedestrian was accompanied by an acquaintance, who was not struck.

The vehicle was traveling south bound in the number 2 lane of Mollison when it collided with the pedestrian. The vehicle, which was described as a gray colored Nissan X-Terra, did not stop and continued south bound on Mollison. A witness followed the X-Terra as it turned west bound on Madison, but soon lost sight of it. The X-Terra is expected to have some front end damage.

The victim was transported by El Cajon Fire Department Paramedics to Sharp Memorial where he was listed in critical condition with internal injuries. The El Cajon Police Department reminds those who are out during the evening hours to only cross streets at controlled intersections and wear light colored or reflective clothing.
