TYPE OF INCIDENT: Press Conference - El Cajon Tagger Tip Line
DATE AND TIME: Monday, October 25, 2010, 2:00 PM
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: Prescott Promenade, 201 E. Main Street
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
The City of El Cajon has seen an increase in graffiti over the last several months. During the last year, there have been approximately 4000 incidents of graffiti reported to the City of El Cajon’s graffiti hotline. This is a significant increase from the previous year. In an effort to reduce graffiti in El Cajon, The City of El Cajon, in partnership with the El Cajon Community Development Corporation and Crime Stoppers, announces the El Cajon Tagger Tip Line. This program offers cash rewards to individuals who provide information leading to the arrest of suspects responsible for graffiti in the City of El Cajon.
To kick off the program, The El Cajon Police Department, the Community Development Corp., and Crime Stoppers will host a press conference on Monday, October 25th, at 2:00 PM, at the Prescott Promenade, 201 E. Main Street in El Cajon. At the press conference, a billboard announcing the program will be unveiled. This program would not have been possible without the leadership and support of Mayor Mark Lewis and City Manager Kathi Henry.
People with information regarding the identity of graffiti vandals can reach the El Cajon Tagger Tip Line from the El Cajon Police Department web site at www.elcajonpolice.org, or the Community Development Corporation web site at www.downtownelcajon.com. Tipsters can also go directly to Crime Stopper’s web site at www.sdcrimestoppers.com/ectaggertipline.html, or call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Anyone with information which leads to an arrest could receive up to a $2,000.00 reward and remain anonymous.
