San Diego County Law Enforcement Grant Awarded

October 8, 2010

TYPE OF INCIDENT: Grant Awarded to El Cajon Police

DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: July 25, 2010

Type of Incident: San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation Grant awarded to the El Cajon Police Department.

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

In July the El Cajon Police Department was awarded a grant from the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation (SDCLEF,) which enabled the Police Department to purchase a remote lighting system. This lighting system will be used by various divisions in the department for crime scenes, DUI check points and tactical call outs. Department staff will no longer be required to transport and set up a generator and an A/C power connection, saving time and providing flexibility, particularly in remote locations. The Pelican system, generously funded by SDCLEF, offers 14 hours of battery life, and powers 4 LCD light heads for 360 degree coverage.

Over the years, SDCLEF has provided funding to local law enforcement agencies for equipment and educational scholarships. Their dedication to San Diego County’s Police and Sheriff’s Departments has enabled agencies to purchase equipment which might not otherwise have been acquired. The El Cajon Police Department is honored to have been granted this award. It is through the Foundation’s generosity and support that police agencies around the county can better serve and protect the citizens of their communities.
