TYPE OF INCIDENT: 245(a)2 PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Shooting
DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: May 3, 2010/1:11 PM
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 798 S. Orange
SUSPECT: John Earl Mock, Jr., 12-22-65
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
The El Cajon Police Department received several 911 calls reference a shooting in the 700 block of S. Orange. Upon arrival, officers found a 23-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to his upper leg. Officers were told that the suspect shot the victim over an on-going dispute and fled. The victim was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The suspect was identified as John Earl Mock, Jr., 12-22-65. While officers were still on-scene, the police department received a call that Mock was in a taxi that was leaving the El Cajon Transit Center. The reporting party followed the taxi to the 500 block of Millar. Mock exited the cab just as officers arrived and he was taken into custody without incident.
Mock will be taken to San Diego County Jail and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
