RESUME OF INCIDENT:

On January 28, 2010, the El Cajon Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted an undercover operation targeting individuals involved in prostitution activity. A total of five people were arrested as a result of the operation.

Upon conviction of prostitution related charges, arrestees may be placed on geographic probation. When a person is placed on geographic probation, they will be ordered to refrain from certain activities in specified areas of El Cajon. One of the arrestees from last night’s operation was in violation of these conditions and was also charged with violation of a court order. Members of the public may go to the El Cajon Police Department’s web site, www.elcajonpolice.org, to view photographs of individuals on geographic probation.

The El Cajon Police Department routinely conducts undercover prostitution enforcement targeting pimps, prostitutes and their customers. In addition to these undercover operations coordinated by the Investigations Division, officers from the Patrol Division are involved in on-going enforcement targeting individuals loitering with the intent to commit acts of prostitution. Operations such as this one will continue on a periodic basis.
