TYPE OF INCIDENT: Shooting
DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: September 14, 2009, 5:25 PM
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 1499 Broadway #13, El Cajon
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On September 14, 2009, at 5:25 PM, the El Cajon Police Department received 911 calls regarding a shooting at 1499 Broadway #13. Upon arrival, officers found a person down outside #13 with apparent gunshot wounds. El Cajon Fire Department paramedics transported the person to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 PM.
According to preliminary information gathered at the scene, the occupants of unit #13 heard loud knocking at the door. When they opened the door, they were confronted by a person with a handgun who forced his way into the apartment. One of the occupants of the apartment armed himself with a shotgun and ultimately shot the intruder.
Investigators are currently conducting interviews and processing the crime scene. The names of the individuals involved are being withheld at this time.
