RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On August 4, 2009, at 6:35 PM, the El Cajon Police Department received a 911 call of a baby who was not breathing. Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene and found that a 9-month-old baby had been left unattended in a bathtub. The child’s father said he had gone to answer the phone after placing the baby and a 2-year-old sibling in the bathtub. The father was out of the room for about 10 minutes, looking into the bathroom periodically. After a total of about 10 minutes, the father returned to find the 9-month-old under the water. Paramedics attempted life saving measures and transported the victim to Grossmont Hospital. Doctors worked to revive the victim at the hospital, but they were unsuccessful.

Detectives responded to conduct the investigation, which is continuing. Two small children in the home were placed in protective custody.
