RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On June 20, 2009 at approximately 1:30am, two suspects robbed the 7-Eleven store located at 1296 N. Second St., in El Cajon. A second 7-Eleven robbery occurred approximately thirty minutes later at 1021 W. Washington Ave., also in the city of El Cajon. Responding officers were able to determine through video surveillance that the suspects were the same in both robberies. Uniformed officers patrolling the area were able to locate three subjects on foot in the 900 block of Leslie Rd., one of which was wearing matching clothing from both robberies. Officers attempted to detain all three subjects when Guinn, who is on active parole, fled on foot. Guinn was apprehended a short distance away. Based upon physical evidence and further investigative leads, all three were arrested and subsequently charged with armed robbery.

These latest robberies are believed to be apart of a series of convenience store robberies that began in early April of 2009. As of this date there have been in excess of twenty robberies perpetrated by what is believed to be a small group of individuals acting in concert. Investigators from the El Cajon Police Department, La Mesa Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigations, San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the San Diego Police Department, have been conducting a joint investigation into this robbery crew. As a result of these most recent robberies and arrests, investigators were able to obtain three search warrants, two of which were served by the El Cajon Police Department’s S.W.A.T team due to several outstanding firearms believed to be involved. As a result, investigators recovered additional evidence which has been linked to other robberies in the series.

All three suspects were charged with armed robbery. The two adult suspects were booked into County Jail and the juvenile was turned over to Juvenile Hall. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated.
