TYPE OF INCIDENT: Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect
DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: January 24, 2009, 11:45 AM
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 3194 Market St., San Diego
SUSPECT: Jimmie Xray Robinson, Jr., DOB – 5-21-61
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Black male, 6’1”, 240 lbs., black hair, brown eyes
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
In September 2008, the El Cajon Police Department received a complaint of a sexual assault identifying Jimmie Xray Robinson, Jr., 5-21-61, as the suspect. The victim in the case met Robinson, also known as Xray, through Robinson’s work as a mentor. Robinson works with several churches in San Diego and Riverside Counties as a minister and music teacher. Robinson uses his position in the churches to build relationships with troubled boys and in turn work with them as a mentor.
The case was assigned to Detective Darrin Forster to investigate. Detective Forster found that there were two similar cases listing Robinson as the suspect during the last eight years. The previous cases were not prosecuted.
Robinson was linked to the victim in the El Cajon case through DNA evidence earlier this month. After receiving the results of the DNA analysis, a warrant was obtained for Robinson’s arrest. Robinson was taken into custody on Saturday by the US Marshall’s Regional Fugitive Task Force. Robinson was arraigned today and charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with children, and one count of oral copulation of a juvenile.
The allegations in the most recent case and the two previous cases are all very similar. It appears as though Robinson may have used his position in various churches to gain the trust of members and take advantage of adolescent boys. Because there are reports of sexual abuse dating back eight years, investigators believe other boys may have been victimized and have chosen not to come forward. Individuals who have been victimized by Robinson or those with knowledge of Robinson’s activities are encouraged to contact Detective Forster at (619) 579-4218.
