OFFICER SAFETY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

July 8, 2008

The City of El Cajon is applying for a $18,045 federal
grant to help fund the upgrading and enhancement of the
Police Department’s equipment as it relates to officer
safety. Funding opportunities have been made available to
law enforcement agencies under the U.S. Department of
Justice grant program known as the FY 2008 Edward Byrne
Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The JAG
Program replaced the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant
(LLEBG) Program that provided local funding to the City of
El Cajon since the mid-1990s.

The City’s application and expenditure plan was presented
at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on June 24,
2008. Copies of the application and expenditure plan are
available for review by interested parties at El Cajon
Police Department, 100 Fletcher Parkway.

A summary of the grant application will also be available
for review and comment on El Cajon Police Department’s web
page, www.elcajonpolice.org.
