RESUME OF INCIDENT:

EL CAJON – The El Cajon Police Department was the recipient
of a locally funded grant that provided two pieces of vital
equipment to the agency. Through the San Diego County Law
Enforcement Foundation Grant, the police department was
allocated funding to purchase a special ballistic shield
for the S.W.A.T. Team and a speed detection laser for the
Traffic Unit.

The Ballistic Shield is designed to provide protection to
SWAT Officers during high risk incidents. This vital piece
of tactical equipment is now standard equipment for the
SWAT Unit and travels with them at all times.

The Traffic Unit received a handheld radar unit that
utilizes a laser to measure distance. The Kustom brand
radar unit is used on a daily basis by the Unit’s motor
officers who monitor speeds on El Cajon surface streets.
The device’s laser is used in the investigation of
collision scenes to accurately measure distances.
