EL CAJON POLICE DEPT. - PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION SHEET
TYPE OF INCIDENT: 187 (a) PC Homicide Arrest
OCCURRED: January 11, 2008
LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE: 1344 Oakdale
VICTIM (S) NAME & ADDRESS: Devester Lee Harris,
37-years-old
SUSPECT: (NOTE: Name NOT for news release if it hinders
investigation)
NAME & ADDRESS: Jennaro Eugene Harvey, El Cajon
AGE & OCCUPATION: 32-years-old, unemployed
RESUME OF INCIDENT: (NOT TO INCLUDE DIRECT QUOTATIONS)
On November 2, 2007 officers from the El Cajon Police
Department responded to several calls of a shooting at 1344
Oakdale. Officers found the victim, Davester Lee Harris,
on the ground in the apartment complex suffering from a
gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he
was later pronounced dead.
Detectives began an investigation into the incident, and
were able to identify Jennaro Eugene Harvey, 11-10-75, as a
possible suspect in the case. El Cajon detectives worked
closely with members of the Violent Crimes Task Force, and
developed information that Harvey was possibly in Atlanta,
Georgia. On December 5, 2007 Harvey was located and
arrested by a team of U.S. Marshalls in Atlanta for parole
violation. After his arrest, Harvey was returned to San
Diego County where he has been held at Donovan State Prison
for Parole Violation.
On January 11, 2008, investigators from the El Cajon Police
Department and the District Attorney’s Office went to
Donovan State Prison and arrested Harvey for the November
2nd murder of Harris. Harvey was booked into county jail.
